What is AnthroInAction

AnthroInAction is a student-led initiative within Norman North High School hoping to engage students, embracing their diverse cultures in an open environment. Students are welcome to share their stories of growth within their unique cultural backgrounds.

As Norman North is home to 7 different cultural clubs, AnthroInAction seeks to unite these clubs and the student body in our diverse differences.

Stories of the Week!

"I’ve learned the importance of family unity in my culture. Every Sunday, we gather for a big meal together, which is a time to catch up and share advice. My grandmother always tells me that we’re only as strong as the relationships we have with each other. I’ve also learned to always respect my elders, and in our tradition, they are treated with a level of reverence that reminds me to be patient and thoughtful in my actions."

— Maya Patel (11th Grade, INDIA)

"My family is from Ireland, and I’ve learned a lot about storytelling from them. We have a tradition of telling family stories every St. Patrick's Day. My grandfather always has a new tale from the past, and it’s one of my favorite times of the year. We also have a tradition of 'Irish luck,' where we’re always taught to keep a positive attitude, even when things don’t go as planned."

— Aidan O’Connor (12th Grade, IRELAND)

"My family comes from a small town in Mexico, and I’ve learned a lot about hard work and perseverance. My dad always tells me that nothing is given, and you have to work for everything you want. I’ve also learned the importance of food in our culture—our Sunday dinners are huge, and we make tamales together as a family. It’s a bonding experience, and my mom insists we always make enough to share with our neighbors."

— Daniel Garcia (10th Grade, MEXICO)

"My family is from Beijing, and I’ve learned a lot about respect for education. My parents emphasize the importance of working hard in school because in China, education is seen as the pathway to success. We celebrate Chinese New Year with a big family reunion and lots of food—dumplings are a must! My grandparents always tell me that family is everything, and we honor our ancestors by keeping their memory alive through rituals."

- Olli Wang (9th Grade, CHINA)
